What is the most popular width for the wedding band?

The most popular wedding band width for women ranges from 2-3mm, but it will depend on the width of your engagement ring and the size of your fingers. Some brides find that 2mm may be too narrow and will opt for sizes up to 4mm- it really depends on your personal preferences. For women, 2-2.5mm is considered narrow, whilst 3-4 mm is considered medium width. For men, the most popular wedding band width is between 6-8mm; however, it depends on hand and finger size and personal preferences. Anything beyond 8mm is considered to be wide; however, we do have sizes and widths to suit any preference.

How long does it take for a custom wedding band to be made?

Our extensive range of ready-made wedding bands can be purchased in-store in Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne and online. For custom wedding bands, it typically takes 4-8 weeks from the day you place the order to create and deliver your bespoke wedding ring. When you place your order, our team can view inventory and provide a more accurate timeframe for your particular rings. If you are looking to purchase a custom wedding band, we recommend leaving yourself at least two months from the day that you order to when you need the rings to ensure that we have plenty of time to get them to you for your special day.

Can you match my wedding band to my engagement ring?

Yes, we can match your wedding band to your engagement ring. A perfect match is a great way to create a cohesive bridal set that is elegant and unique to your style. We can match diamonds, wedding band materials, and even the width to create the same cohesive design between your engagement and wedding ring. Whether you purchased your engagement ring through GS Diamonds or another retailer, our team can create the perfect complementary wedding band to match.

What distinguishes a wedding ring from an engagement ring?

The engagement ring is typically the ‘statement’ piece in the bridal ring set. It is the larger and the more extravagant of the two rings and usually features a natural or lab-grown diamond at the centre. Wedding bands or rings are exchanged at the altar on the day and are a symbol of togetherness with your partner, symbolising a formal marriage commitment. Wedding bands can be a simple design or an extension of your engagement ring with complementary stones that ‘extend’ your bridal set – the choice is completely up to you.

How much should a wedding ring cost?

First of all, you should not feel pressured to spend a minimum (or maximum) amount to find the right ring. The wedding band cost varies widely depending on the metal, design, and whether diamonds or other gemstones are included. The average cost of wedding rings in Australia ranges from a few hundred dollars for a simple band to several thousand for a diamond-set or bespoke piece. The cost of a custom wedding ring is usually higher. In the end, it all comes down to your budget and taste.

Can a wedding band have diamonds?

Yes, both men’s and women’s wedding bands and wedding rings can have diamonds. Whilst it used to be traditional that wedding bands were made of plain metal, today, many brides and grooms choose to have diamonds on their bands. Diamond set wedding bands are becoming an increasingly popular option for both brides and grooms and are the perfect way to add some sparkle to your bridal set.

Measure your ring size

Planning a proposal or buying a ring for yourself? Here are five reliable ways to measure ring size.

How to measure your ring size

Find your size

Measure a Ring That Already Fits

Place the ring on a flat surface or ruler.
Measure straight across the centre of the inside circle
Measure in millimetres
Compare the diameter with a ring size chart.
Make sure the ring is worn on the same finger the new ring is for.

Use a Plastic Ring Sizer Tool

Slide the sizer onto your finger.
Tighten it until it feels snug but comfortable.
Make sure it slides over the knuckle with slight resistance.
Check it sits securely at the base without spinning.
Read the indicated size on the tool.

String or Paper Strip Method

Wrap a string or paper strip around the base of your finger.
Mark where the ends meet.
Lay it flat and measure the length in millimetres.
Compare the measurement with a ring size chart.
Avoid pulling too tight — this method is a rough estimate only.

Printable Ring Size Chart

Print the ring size chart at 100% scale.
Place your ring over the printed circles.
Find the circle that fits perfectly inside the band.
Ensure there are no gaps or overlaps.
Use a ring worn on the correct finger for accuracy.
