Diamond carat (ct) measures a diamond’s weight, with 1 carat equal to 200 milligrams. Carat should not be confused with visible size, as two diamonds of the same weight can look different depending on their shape, cut and proportions. Dimensions are often a better guide to how large a diamond will appear, while higher carat weights generally also come with higher prices.​
